Gang member arrested in southeast Fresno felony hit-and-run case
Fresno police arrested a known Sanger Bulldog gang member early Wednesday after they say he rear-ended another car, injuring its driver, and ran from the southeast Fresno intersection.
Lt. Joe Gomez said the accident was reported near Jensen and Peach avenues around 5:45 a.m. The victim was stopped at a red light when a white pickup smashed into her car at a high rate of speed. The driver then ran from the crash.
The victim sustained several broken ribs and bruised lungs. Her car was totaled.
A resident of a nearby neighborhood called 911 to report a man running through her backyard. Police searched the area and located Clyde Lewis, 40, between a fence and a line of olive trees. Police say Lewis was partially buried in the dirt.
Lewis was transported to Community Regional Medical Center with a head injury. He will be booked on multiple charges, including drug possession and felony hit-and-run, once released from the hospital.
