Three arrested at Visalia DUI sobriety checkpoint

A DUI checkpoint in Visalia resulted in three arrests overnight on Friday, the Visalia Police Department said.

The checkpoint ran from 8:45 p.m. Friday night and until 2:45 a.m. Saturday morning at Goshen Avenue and Ben Maddox Way.

During the operation, police checked 375 vehicles, conducted six field sobriety tests, gave 20 citations for unlicensed driving and seven for people driving with suspended licenses, and towed five vehicles.

The DUI Enforcement Team and other units of the police department will be conducting additional enforcement actions aimed at deterring drinking and driving, police said.
