Man with stolen handgun arrested in northeast Fresno

Fresno police recovered a loaded, .45 caliber handgun that was reported stolen in 2011 Wednesday night in northeast Fresno.

Sgt. Doug Goertzen said officers noticed a man who appeared to be acting suspiciously near Barstow and Angus avenues about 11:30 p.m. When an attempt was made to contact the man, he tried to flee.

After he was taken into custody, the man, identified as Kevin Lowe, 35, was found to be a felon and prohibited from possessing firearms, Goertzen said. He was booked into Fresno County Jail on charges including resisting arrest and possessing a weapon.
