Man fatally shot while walking along busy Madera street

A 21-year-old man who was shot by gunmen in a passing car as he walked along a busy road in Madera Tuesday has died, Madera police said.

Sgt. Tom Burns said the suspects arrived in a vehicle and opened fire around 1:10 p.m.

The victim was shot near the intersection of South Madera Avenue and El Dorado Drive. He was transported to Madera Community Hospital, where he later died, police said.

Burns said police are investigating the scene. They don’t know how many suspects were there or how many shots were fired.

He said investigators have talked to several witnesses.
