CHP seeks driver in Madera hit-run
The driver of a white, late-model Toyota Corolla involved in a major injury collision with a pedestrian in Madera is sought by the California Highway Patrol.
A CHP spokesman said the incident took place late Monday night at Highway 145 and Avenue 12. About 11:45 p.m., Pilas Garza Valdez, 75, of Fresno was pushing a shopping cart south on the east shoulder of Highway 145 north of Avenue 12. The Corolla driver was northbound on 145 and it appears that Valdez stepped into the roadway and was struck by the front of the car. Valdez was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.
The Toyota should have front-end damage. Anyone with information is asked to call the Madera CHP office at (559) 675-1025.
