Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino south of Lemoore went into an active shooter lockdown procedure Friday evening after a man entered the casino stating he’d been shot, according to the Kings County Sheriff’s Department.

Sgt. Chris Barsteceanu said a man in his late 30s drove to the main entrance of the casino about 7 p.m. and told staff members that he’d been shot. While workers dealt with the injured man, his passenger, in his early 20s, entered the casino.

Not knowing what role the passenger played in the shooting, casino officials called for the lockdown.

Barsteceanu said the victim sustained moderate injuries and was transferred to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

The passenger was taken into police custody and remained a person of interest Friday night, said Barsteceanu.

No further information was immediately available.
