A Bulldog gang member was arrested Saturday after a man was shot inside a gasoline station in southeast Fresno, police reported.

The assault took place about 7 p.m. in the 5100 block of East Olive Avenue. Sgt. Justin Hoagland said the victim was inside the store when the suspect, later identified as Alfonso Vega, 18, entered and engaged in a verbal disturbance with the victim before pulling a handgun and shooting the victim in the leg.

The victim was taken to a hospital with non-lethal injuries.

After checking a video of the incident, detectives went to an apartment complex in the 900 block of North Peach Avenue for a probation search for a suspect who matched the description of the gunman and arrested Vega. He was booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call detective Miguel Alvarez at (559) 621-2433.
