Fresno man arrested on gun charges in southeast Fresno

A Fresno man was arrested after being caught with a gun in southeast Fresno, near Chestnut and Butler avenues late Tuesday afternoon, said Fresno Police Department Sgt. Ritch O’Dell.

Police were sent in response to a call of three men outside talking about shooting an unknown woman, said O’Dell.

When the suspects saw the officers, they split up and walked in different directions. One of the suspects was Akili Foster, 18, a known Dog Pound gang member.

While speaking with Foster, officers found a gun in his sweatshirt, said O’Dell.

Foster was arrested and booked into Fresno County Jail for being a gang member carrying a concealed firearm.

Foster was previously arrested for shoplifting outside of a store in southeast Fresno, where Foster was also found to have a gun. That case is pending and Foster was not wanted Tuesday evening.

It is unknown if Foster intended to shoot anyone. No intended victim could be located Tuesday night, said O’Dell.
