A 40-year-old Parlier man died after being hit by a car on Academy Avenue in Parlier on Monday, the California Highway Patrol says.
Sgt. Mike Trenholm said the incident happened about 5:30 p.m. on Academy south of Manning Avenue. The man was parked on the east shoulder of Academy completing repairs to an older blue Ford Mustang that he was towing with a green Chevrolet pickup.
Trenholm said the driver of a 2000 Toyota Camry failed to see the pickup, hit it and then hit the man who was standing in the roadway. He died at the scene.
The Camry driver, a 26-year-old Parlier man, was not hurt and immediately called police, Trenholm said.
No one involved was believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Trenholm said. The crash is under investigation, and the name of the dead man has not been released.
