19-year-old woman shot during gunfight in central Fresno

A 19-year-old woman was shot during a gunfight Monday night in central Fresno, police say.

Lt. Dave Ramos said the shooting happened near Pontiac Way and Effie Street around 8 p.m. After a confrontation, both groups shot at each other and the victim sustained a single gunshot wound.

She was taken to Community Regional Medical Center and remained in serious but stable condition Monday night.

Whether the shooting is gang-related remained under investigation. No arrests were made Monday night.
