Suspect in Fresno killing dead after standoff with Oakland police
An Oakland man wanted in three separate killings, including a central Fresno shooting, was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot early Friday after a stand-off with Oakland police.
Jason Alexander Brown, 18, is the suspect in the Sept. 12 killing of Albert Thao, 27, at MeKhong Restaurant in central Fresno. Brown also is suspected in fatal shootings in Sacramento and Livermore.
The standoff at a motel near the Oakland airport lasted about 12 hours before police heard multiple gunshots about 3 a.m. from a motel room. Police say no officers discharged their firearms.
Sacramento police say Brown and a partner fatally shot Walter Gibson, 53, in a parking lot after an attempted robbery related to drugs Sept. 28.
On Oct. 24, Brown was driving near a CVS pharmacy in Livermore when he opened fire on two men in a parked car, Livermore police said. One man was killed and another seriously wounded.
