Police: Fresno parolee attacks man because he wanted to return to prison
Police arrested a Fresno man they say attacked a stranger with a metal pipe on Nov. 16 because he wanted to return to prison.
Sgt. Ron Grimm said officers responded to the Arco gas station at Cedar and Ashlan avenues around 2 p.m. for a report of someone threatening people with a metal pipe. When they arrived, a victim said he had been hit several times and pointed out 24-year-old Aaron Brown, of Fresno, as his attacker.
The victim was not seriously hurt.
Brown ran from police but was detained after a brief chase, Grimm said. He told officers that he was on active parole and had been trying to get sent back to prison. He was recently arrested several times, but those arrests didn’t result in a parole violation.
He was booked into Fresno County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and a parole hold.
