Police arrest alleged DUI driver, help crash victims make flight at Fresno airport
A crash in southeast Fresno had officers delivering victims – to the airport.
Nobody was seriously hurt in the crash that happened just before 8 p.m. Monday at Clovis Avenue and Kings Canyon Road, but five people in the vehicle struck by an alleged drunken driver were trying to make their flight to Mexico, the Fresno Police Department said.
The driver, who police arrested for suspicion of being under the influence, drove through the intersection and smashed into the other vehicle carrying five people trying to get to Fresno Yosemite International Airport.
The crash delayed the people hoping to be on the flight, and family members who arrived on the scene couldn’t fit all of them in their vehicle. So officers loaded luggage into the squad car and helped the victims get to the airport.
Officers got the group to the airport at 9:30 p.m. for an 11 p.m. flight. They all got aboard.
