Armed robbers hit southeast Fresno market

Armed robbers stole from a Kings Canyon Road market in southeast Fresno on Tuesday morning – and the owner believes it’s the second time in less than two weeks that the same bandits have targeted his store, police said.

Lt. Joe Gomez said the owner chased the robbers out of the Sun Lite market, just east of Chestnut Avenue, just before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The owner told officers the robbers got away in a newer red Honda; he followed them into a neighborhood near Chestnut and Jensen avenues before losing them, and he wasn’t able to get a license plate number.

The store owner told police that both robbers wore ski masks and gloves. One held him at gunpoint while the other went behind the counter and took an undetermined amount of cash from the register. The store owner told police that both suspects are African-American males with thin builds, and that he believes the same bandits held up his store Oct. 30.

Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP.
