Wire thieves sought by Fresno County Sheriff’s detectives

Two men who took an estimated $1,200 in telephone wire from a business south of Selma are sought by Fresno County Sheriff’s detectives.

Spokesman Tony Botti said the crime took place Oct. 14 about 11:30 a.m. The men entered the parking lot of the business on Mountain View Avenue near Highway 99. They were driving a small, red hatchback (possibly a Honda) with a white hood and black front fenders.

The men backed up to a scrap pile and loaded 12 feet of telephone wire into the back of their car. The stolen wire had the “Verizon” company name printed on the outer insulation.

Botti said local recyclers should be on the lookout for wire that matches the description. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP.
