A 39-year-old man seriously injured Tuesday morning after he was struck on the head with a stick in a Tower District assault is expected to survive, police report. A suspect has been caught.
About 5:30 a.m., officers went to a car wash at Palm and Olive avenues, where the victim was lying on the ground, police Lt. Joe Gomez said. He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.
About 12 hours later, police arrested Kirk Douglas Voigt, 30, at a laundromat on Palm and Harrison avenues, less than two blocks from the crime scene.
