Tip leads to quick arrest in Selma gang-related shooting
A gang-related shooting in Selma Friday afternoon ended in one arrest after witnesses were able to identify and lead police to the shooter within 5 minutes of the crime, Selma police said.
Juan Ortiz, 31, of Selma, was found lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds near the 2000 block of Mitchell avenue around 3:20 p.m. Ortiz is a known gang-member and was in critical condition when he was rushed to a hospital Friday, police said.
Thanks to witness help, police were able to locate the suspect, a juvenile gang-member, who was taken into custody. The weapon used in the crime was also recovered.
