Fresno police dog finds burglary suspect hiding on carport roof
Fresno officers chasing a burglary suspect in southeast Fresno used a K-9 to find the man on a carport roof.
Officers were dispatched to South Eighth Street and East Balch Avenue on a call about a suspect burglarizing a car. The caller said the suspect, Alexander Valdez, was inside his roommate’s vehicle.
The caller yelled at Valdez, 27, causing him to run away. The caller and his roommate chased Valdez until he jumped a fence into a backyard.
Officers arrived to see Valdez jump another fence into another backyard, near East Huntington Boulevard and South Seventh Street. Officers set up a perimeter and asked for a K-9.
The dog, Tico, got a scent of Valdez on the roof of a carport. Officers used a ladder to climb up and find him.
Valdez was arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary.
