Coalinga museum curator back in jail on embezzlement charge

The former curator of the R.C. Baker Memorial Museum in Coalinga was arrested Thursday for a second time on a charge of embezzlement, police said.

Lt. Darren Blevins said Stephanie McHaney is accused of embezzling more than $90,000 of museum funds over a four-year period. McHaney, 41, was arrested Sept. 30 and later released from jail, but was back in Fresno County Jail on Friday with bail set at $30,000.

The Baker museum, on nearly a full block, highlights the Coalinga area’s history – particularly its oil boom – and includes a restored vintage gas station.
