Police respond to a pair of Fresno shootings Thursday

Police responded to a pair of unrelated shootings Thursday evening in Fresno.

The first shooting happened just before 6 p.m. on Grant Avenue, near Chestnut and Belmont avenues in southeast Fresno.

Police said the victim, described as a man in his 40s, was taken to Community Regional Medical Center after suffering a single gunshot wound. His condition was not known, police said, and the investigation was ongoing.

The second shooting happened just after 6 p.m. Police said the victim, described as a 43-year-old man, drove himself to a gas station on Palm and Olive avenues after being shot.

A clerk at the gas station called police after the man fell out of the car. Police said the man was taken to Community with a gunshot wound to his torso and was reported to be in critical, but stable condition.

The shooting might have happened in northwest Fresno, police said. Investigators said there are some leads, but a suspect has not been identified.
