A woman who assaulted and attempted to rob a 73-year-old veteran in southeast Fresno is sought by Fresno police.

The incident occurred Oct. 10 in the 4200 block of East Belmont Avenue.

Sgt. Mark Hudson said the victim was walking through the parking lot of an AutoZone when the 5-foot, 8-inch, 200-pound woman attacked him and demanded his wallet. She followed him into the store and again assaulted him. The man fled out the back door of the business pursued by the woman, who again attacked him. The woman fled when a witness told her police were on the way.

The suspect is driving an early 2000-era green Ford Explorer with mismatched rims on the driver’s side. Anyone with information is asked to call detective Donnie Dinnell at (559) 621-STOP or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP.
