A man and two juveniles were arrested Tuesday afternoon after a carjacking earlier in the day in northwest Fresno.

The silver Mazda was taken by force about 11:30 a.m. on Thorne Avenue, south of Shaw Avenue. Sheriff’s spokesman Tony Botti identified 18-year-old Malik Hardamon as one of the suspects. The names of the juveniles were withheld.

Botti said the victim was approached by Hardamon and a 17-year-old in a parking lot near Shaw and Thorne avenues. The victim was wrestled to the ground, and his keys and wallet were taken before the suspects drove off in his 2014 Mazda.

The HEAT auto task force spotted the car about 2 p.m. in a stall at The Parks at Fig Garden in the 4000 block of North Fruit Avenue. A 17-year-old and a 16-year-old were taken into custody.

Hardamon fled but was arrested after a search of surrounding neighborhoods. The victim suffered moderate injuries.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call deputies at 559-600-3111 or Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP.
