Fresno police on Wednesday arrested a man wanted for the suspected stabbing and attempted shooting of a father and son in central Fresno.
Daniel Casanova was arrested during a traffic stop at Friant and Blackstone avenues. He was booked into the Fresno County Jail on weapons charges and for assault with a deadly weapon.
Fresno police report that Casanova was identified as the suspect in an Aug. 15 stabbing. Officers responded to 1211 E. Olive Ave. in the Tower District and found a father and son with stab wounds. The son told officers that the suspect came up behind him and stabbed him in the face. He called out to his father and they chased the suspect, who was wearing a bandana.
The pair caught up to the man who turned and stabbed the father in the right hand, police said. The mask fell off and one of the victims recognized him. Casanova then pulled out a Tec 9 mm handgun and fired a round toward the victims before he ran off.
