A nationwide human trafficking operation, which included a sweep in Fresno, by the FBI and its partners last week resulted in the recovery of 149 underage trafficking victims and the arrest of 154 pimps.
In Fresno, the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force – which includes the Fresno Police Department, the Fresno Sheriff’s Office and Tulare Police Department – found one minor and arrested two suspected pimps. Another 90 adults in Fairfield, Fresno, and Sacramento were arrested for other offenses such as probation violations and prostitution-related charges.
The FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children spearheaded Operation Cross Country IX to work with state and local law enforcement to target criminal enterprises responsible for the commercial sex trafficking of children.
In August, a five-week operation in Clovis, Fresno and Merced helped find 11 children and six pimps. Another 105 adults were arrested.
