Woman fends off armed robber in southeast Fresno
A woman fended off a 17-year-old boy who tried to rob her at gunpoint at a gas station in southeast Fresno, police said.
Sgt. Mark Hudson said Thursday afternoon that tips received by investigators led to the arrest of the 17-year-old, but three other young males are wanted in connection with the case.
The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday near Olive and Peach avenues.
On a gas station surveillance video, the males are seen following the woman from her van inside the store and later one of them can be seen taking items from her van. The 17-year-old pulled a gun on the woman after she got in her van, while another male acted as a lookout. The woman knocked the gun from the robber’s hand and him to the ground, police said.
The suspects fled without getting the woman’s purse.
Police released descriptions of two of the suspects who are still wanted. One is described as young, black, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds. Another is believed to be Hispanic, approximately 6 feet tall, 170 pounds and is believed to have a goatee. He was wearing horizontal stripes and is wanted for the theft of cosmetics and a computer tablet from the woman’s van.
Anyone with information is asked to call detective Donnie Dinnell at 559-621-6334 or Crime Stoppers at 559-498-7867.
