A Porterville Unified School District volunteer is accused of committing a variety of sexual crimes against children, including sodomy and sexual penetration by force, Porterville police said Tuesday.
Chief Eric Kroutil says in a news release that James Raul Magana, 20, of Porterville allegedly sent explicit photos and sexually suggestive text messages to three 15-year-old boys while volunteering as a cross country coach at Granite Hills High School. After searching Magana’s residence, detectives linked him to various other sex crimes.
Police are working with the district to ensure that all victims have been contacted. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call detective Lance Kirk at 559-782-7412.
