Roosevelt High girls arrested after attack on student

Two 15-year-old Roosevelt High School girls were arrested on battery charges after a video of the pair beating a third girl appeared on Facebook and a boy Fresno police say incited the incident was suspended from the school.

Lt. Joe Gomez said the incident happened Monday after the boy, 15, told one of the girls the victim was gossiping about her. The girl confronted the victim and began to punch and kick her, Gomez said. A short time later another girl joined the attack.

Gomez said a teacher tried to stop the fight but could not. A school resources officer broke it up.

The girls were suspended from the school in addition to being booked on the battery charges and on charges of fighting on school grounds.
