Fresno County sheriff’s detectives are asking for help solving the killing of Brian Cervantes, 21, who was shot to death Sept. 21 at a home in the 500 block of Stamoules Street in Mendota.

Sheriff’s spokesman Tony Botti said detectives do not think the slaying was random and was probably drug-related. Mendota police found two men with multiple gunshot wounds. The victims were in a garage with the door open when two gunmen approached, fired into the structure and ran away.

Cervantes died at the scene. A 32-year-old man was taken to Community Regional Medical Center. He has since been released. The survivor lived where the shooting took place.

Cervantes was from Firebaugh but had moved recently to Mendota. Mendota police turned to the sheriff’s office for help.

Anyone with information is asked to call detective Hector Palma at 559-600-8204 or Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP.
