Fresno burglar arrested after call from good Samaritan

A suspected burglar was arrested in southeast Fresno Monday morning thanks to a tip from a good Samaritan.

The citizen followed the suspect, identified as Luis Gardea, 33, after he witnessed Gardea breaking a window and removing a purse from a parked vehicle near Kings Canyon Road and Fowler Avenue around 10 a.m., Fresno police said.

Staying on his phone, the man followed the suspect down the road until a police helicopter could lead officers to Gardea. He was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of burglary and being possession of burglary tools.
