Fresno man assaulted ex-girlfriend, stole her purse, police say

Police are looking for a man in Fresno who allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend before stealing her purse.

Police said the assault happened Sept. 11 in the 4500 block of East McKenzie Avenue.

Jacob Mark Ayala, 42, allegedly grabbed the woman by her hair, punched her in the face three times and knocked her to the ground.

Ayala then took the victim’s purse by force; she was unable to hang onto the purse because she has a physical disability, police said.

The victim’s purse contained her identification, credit cards, checks, money and two cell phones.

Ayala is described as a Hispanic man, 5 foot 7 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call detective Donnie Dinnell at 559-621-6334 or Crime Stoppers at 559-498-7867.
