A man was arrested early Thursday morning after officers discovered methamphetamine and a loaded handgun during a traffic stop in northwest Fresno, police said.

Sgt. Brandi Phebus said officers noticed a motorcycle driving suspiciously slow with expired registration tags through a neighborhood near Fremont and Marks avenues. They pulled over the driver at 3:30 a.m.

Police learned the driver, 20-year-old Mark Smith of Fresno, was concealing a loaded .38-caliber Colt revolver in his jacket, Phebus said. They also found 19 grams of crystal methamphetamine packaged for sale, she said.

Smith was arrested on concealed weapon and drug sale charges.
