3 arrested in east central Fresno during drug sweep near schools

Three suspects were arrested Tuesday in Operation School Safety Zone after detectives served four search warrants near Ewing Elementary School and the Fresno Adventist Academy in east central Fresno, police said.

The suspects were arrested at their homes where warrants were served in the 4800 block of East Pine Avenue and the 5200 block of East Hedges and East Hammond avenues. They are:

Khorn Thorng, 46, who was arrested on suspicion of cultivating marijuana and child endangerment when officers discovered several pounds of processed marijuana concealed in a 13-year-old child’s bedroom.

Kan Koy, 37, who was arrested on suspicion of selling marijuana when he was found with two pounds of marijuana and  1/4 pound of hashish.

Thonglu Rattanababpha, 61, was arrested on suspicion of cultivation and possessing almost 20 pounds of marijuana and 52 plants growing in an indoor greenhouse.

Tuesday’s seizure netted 67 pounds of marijuana and a .40 caliber handgun, police said. Since the operation began 400 plants have been confiscated and over 100 pounds of processed marijuana have been seized.
