Minors arrested for suspected arson in Sundance fire

Two Madera County minors suspected of starting the Sundance fire on Sept. 13 were arrested Friday, the Madera County District Attorney’s Office said.

The youths have been booked at the Madera County Juvenile Detention facility are expected to appear in Madera County Superior Court Wednesday.

The Sundance fire burned 13 acres near Deadwood Mountain south of Oakhurst on Sunday, Sept. 13.

An investigation by Cal Fire officials discovered that the two juveniles were lighting spray from aerosol cans to shoot flames at one another, but ignited nearby dry vegetation instead.
