Man shot through bedroom window in Madera

A Madera man is in critical condition Monday morning after he was shot once in his abdomen through his bedroom window, police say.

Madera police Sgt. Daniel Foss said police responded to a shooting call in the 900 block of East Yosemite Avenue around 11:20 p.m. They found the victim, who rents a room at a home in the area, and called for medical assistance. The victim was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, where he was stable as of 6:15 a.m.

Investigators are still trying to piece together exactly what happened. Detectives don’t think it is gang-related, but it could be a drug-related crime, as police found drugs inside the victim’s room, Foss said.
