Three arrested in Hanford beer heist

Three Hanford men are in jail after police said Friday they stole beer at a liquor store, fired a gun into the air and threatened the store clerk.

They were arrested a few hours after the heist thanks to a bystander’s dash-mounted camera that caught the license plate number of the getaway vehicle, a Honda.

About 8:30 p.m. Thursday, police got a call of shots fired at Sierra Liquor on North 10th Avenue.

After a man stole two cases of beer and ran out without paying, the clerk stopped him in front of the store and a scuffle began, police said.

The driver of the Honda got out and fired two shots into the air, then pointed the gun at the clerk and threatened him.

Two men got into the Honda, which had another passenger, and drove away.

Police used the license plate number to track down Jacob Sepulveda, 24, Jacob Gentry, 23, and Alphonso Garcia, 19, who were arrested for robbery and street gang activity.
