Fresno gang member fired shots at passing vehicle, police say
One man was arrested Sunday in southeast Fresno after police said he fired shots at a passing vehicle.
Police responded to calls of multiple shots fired around 10:30 p.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of North Backer Avenue.
Police then found several spent bullet cartridges in the street and an empty long-gun rifle case on the ground in front of an apartment.
Police said they searched one apartment and found a Remington 870 pump action shotgun and a Taurus .38 snub-nose revolver along with ammunition for both guns.
Eight people were detained from the apartment, police said.
Lalo Leyvas, 20, of Fresno, a self-admitted gang member, confessed to shooting at a passing vehicle, investigators said.
Police said there was an exchange of gunfire between Leyvas and the people in the vehicle, which fled the scene.
Leyvas was arrested on suspicion of negligent discharge of a firearm and the recovery of two guns, police said.
