Police investigating shooting in southwest Fresno

Fresno police officers are investigating shots fired from two vehicles and a possible shooting victim that occurred about 3 p.m. Sunday in the southwest part of the city.

Sgt. Pete Boyer said two vehicles were involved in the incident at Tulare Street and Mayor Avenue.

No one was in custody.

Boyer said a 19-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his back came to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment at about the time of the shooting. Officers are investigating if there is a connection.

Officers had located the scene of the shooting, Boyer said. A vehicle at the hospital also may be included in the investigation. The vehicle matched a description of one from the report of shots being fired, he said.
