Man arrested in east-central Fresno Walmart robberies

Fresno police have arrested a man suspected of pouring gasoline on a store clerk during a July 13 robbery at an east-central Fresno Walmart.

Thanks partly to tips from the public, Oscar Martinez, 54, was arrested Tuesday in central Fresno, police said.

Detectives discovered that Martinez had committed two robberies at the Walmart at Cedar and Shields avenues.

Both times, the suspect threatened the clerk at check-out, the first time with a handgun on July 9, and the second on July 13, spraying the clerk with gasoline.
