Fresno man arrested after crashing stolen car
A 28-year-old Fresno man was arrested early Tuesday on suspicion of stealing a vehicle after crashing into a parked car in central Fresno.
A Fresno County sheriff’s deputy saw a reckless driver in the area around Mayfair Drive North and Circle Court around 1 a.m. He ran the license plate number through computer records and discovered that the car was stolen, the sheriff’s office said. The deputy attempted to pull over the driver, Angel Gonzales, but he refused.
Gonzales then crashed into a parked car at Mayfair Drive South and Normal Avenue, just east of the Mayfair Shopping Center, and ran from the scene. The deputy caught him a short distance away. Gonzales was booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of vehicle theft, evading an officer and probation violation.
