Police: Man arrested after choking his girlfriend in central Fresno

A man was arrested early Saturday morning on suspicion of choking his girlfriend at a Jack in the Box restaurant at Ashlan Avenue and Golden State Boulevard in central Fresno, police said.

The victim reported that she was having trouble breathing after her boyfriend, identified as Ted Dupont Roberts, 40, choked her, police said.

Police said they found a stolen gun after searching Roberts’ car.

Roberts was arrested on suspicion of corporal injury on spouse/cohabitant, possession of stolen property, carrying a stolen firearm, carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle and carrying a loaded firearm in a public place.
