Man shot in the chest in southeast Fresno

A Hispanic man in his late 20s was shot in the upper torso in southeast Fresno Saturday night, the Fresno Police Department said.

Police responded to the area of Bond Street and Thomas Avenue around 10:30 p.m. and found the victim, said Sgt. Pete Boyer. Witnesses say several shots were fired during the altercation. The man had a single gunshot wound.

Two suspects fled the scene in a mid-sized sport utility vehicle, Boyer said. No description of the suspects was immediately available.

The victim was taken to Community Regional Medical Center where he was reported in stable condition.

Boyer said it is unknown if the shooting was gang-related, but that the Bond Street Bulldogs were infamous in that area.
