Jury finds Porterville teen guilty in gang crimes
A Porterville teen who was tried as an adult has been found guilty of attempted murder and beating a man to benefit a gang, the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office said Thursday.
Daniel Miranda, 19, faces 49 to life in state prison when he’s sentenced Sept. 24.
On July 21, 2012, Miranda and two unidentified males kicked and punched a juvenile victim over rival gang colors.
On Oct 3, 2012, he got into an argument with a man, a scuffle ensued and the victim fled to his home down the street. Miranda chased him, drew a gun, fired three times and hit the victim twice.
The victim suffered serious injuries to his throat, abdomen and backside, but survived to identify Miranda. The guilty verdict included the special allegation of using a firearm causing great bodily injury.
