Victim assaulted with pipe, breaking his arm, Fresno police say

Police are investigating after a man said he was beaten with a pipe in Fresno on Tuesday night.

Officers responded to the alleged assault around 11 p.m. near Shields Avenue and First Street, Fresno police Sgt. Diane Trueba Vega said.

The victim told officers an unknown suspect beat him with a pipe. He had a broken arm, as well as a laceration on his arm, Trueba Vega said.

The victim was taken to Community Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. He’s in stable condition.

Police are continuing to investigate.

A separate pipe attack also occurred Saturday night. A suspect attacked a man near White and Maple avenues, striking him at least five times on the back of his head.

The victim knew the suspect and ran to a nearby residence for help. Police located and arrested a suspect in the Saturday incident.
