Gun stolen in Nevada recovered near Fresno State

Fresno police recovered a handgun stolen in Nevada late Wednesday after arresting a man involved in an armed disturbance near Fresno State.

Sgt. Doug Goertzen said officers were called to the area of Bulldog Lane and Sixth Street about 11:30 p.m. to check a report of an armed man who ran from the scene of the disturbance.

Officers saw a man who matched the suspect’s description near Shaw Avenue and Sixth Street. The suspect ran, tossing a gun in a flower bed, Goertzen said.

Officers recovered a .40 caliber Smith & Wesson M&P 40 loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition.

Prophet Hillard, 20, of Fresno was booked on charges of felony firearms possession and resisting arrest.
