A woman who made bad credit card purchases totaling more than $1,000 in what appeared to be back-to-school shopping was arrested Wednesday in southeast Fresno after returning to a WSS shoe store where she had shopped with the stolen card just two weeks earlier.

The “Back to School Shopping Bandit” was identified as Adriana Saldate, 29, of Fresno, the Fresno Police Department said.

Police said Saldate stole the credit card from a vehicle on Aug. 8 in front of a residence in the 1300 block of North Adler Avenue in east-central Fresno. She then used the card at four different southeast Fresno stores, including the WSS shoe store at 4289 E. Kings Canyon Ave.

Saldate was booked into the Fresno County Jail on felony charges that include burglary and identity theft.
