Armed man robs Fresno bank, flees on foot with unknown sum of cash, police say

An armed man robbed a Fresno bank Tuesday morning, and police are working to get more information.

Fresno police Lt. Alfonso Castillo said a silent alarm went off around 10:30 a.m. at the PNC Bank at Shaw and Palm avenues.

Castillo said a man entered the bank and demanded money from tellers by producing a firearm.

“The tellers complied and gave an undisclosed amount of money in cash. We’re still trying to determine exactly how much that was,” he said.

The suspect fled on foot wearing a black hoodie, dark pants and a surgical-type mask. Officers collected witness statements from people who were inside the bank at the time.

Castillo said the bank was likely to be closed for the rest of the day as detectives canvass for evidence and try to determine how much money was taken.

“The tellers complied and gave an undisclosed amount of money in cash. We’re still trying to determine exactly how much that was,” Fresno police Lt. Alfonso Castillo said of the armed robbery at PNC Bank on April 21, 2026.
