A man was stabbed Thursday during an altercation among roommates at an apartment complex in Fresno.

Officers responded to the stabbing at 12:05 p.m. in the 2800 block of West Ashlan Avenue near North Marks Avenue.

Police said that during the fight, one of the roommates produced a knife and swung it at the other roommate.

Police said the victim is in his early 20s and was cut on the neck and forehead areas.

The victim was taken to the hospital and was expected to be OK.

Police said the 18-year-old suspect was contacted a short distance away from where the incident occurred and was arrested by officers on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

Fresno police Lt. Larry Bowlan said the knife was recovered at the scene.
