Post Office carrier assaulted in attempted robbery in Fresno. 15-year-old arrested
A United States Postal Service carrier was assaulted Tuesday in what Fresno police are saying was an attempted robbery. It’s the second such incident in a week.
A 15-year-old was arrested following Tuesday’s assault near Marks and Saginaw avenues, leaving the mail carrier with minor scratches, dazed and with “difficulty breathing at times,” according to the Fresno Police Department.
The teen will be charged with attempted robbery and assault and using force likely to cause great bodily injury, police said.
A second person, also a minor, is suspected in the assault but has yet to be apprehended.
The incident is not believed to be related to a robbery that happened on Thursday. In that case, a USPS carrier was not injured, but their keys, wallet and cell phone were taken at gunpoint. The Postal Inspector is investigating the robbery.
