A man in his 40s was stabbed multiple times early Wednesday during a carjacking in Fresno.

Fresno Police Lt. Henry Garcia III said the crime occurred just before 12:30 a.m. near Butler and Sierra Vista when the victim was inside his car and the alleged suspect approached him.

The suspect entered the vehicle and demanded to be taken to a nearby gas station, where he pulled out a knife and stabbed the driver multiple times.

The suspect then fled in the victim’s vehicle.

The victim was in stable condition at a local hospital, Garcia said.

Garcia said the men know each other.
