Fresno police continue to search for two men sought on murder charges in connection with a July 28 shooting in east-central Fresno.

They are Shawn Lamont Brown and Lachance Larue Thomas, both 19. Both were booked into Fresno County Jail the next day, but jail authorities were legally required to release them because legal evidence needed in the case could not be processed before a jail hold expired.

Lt. Mark Salazar of the Street Violence Section said the pair are linked to the slaying of Von Randell Correia, 29, who was shot near Shields and Maple avenues just before midnight. Brown and Thomas were stopped near Highway 168 and Shields avenue by an officer who heard gunfire and saw a car speeding away. Police recovered a handgun that officers believe was tossed from the speeding car. Police initially said the shooting was drug-related.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Brown and Thomas is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP, where a reward of up to $1,000 can be received for information leading to an arrest.
